Mid Lake Cavaliers started in 2006 and became a reality when we found Tasman. MLC's Tasman Jazz was our first Cavalier acquisition and we've grown substantially since then. We knew when Tasman was just a young little guy that he had all the makings for a perfect stud. Since this time, Tasman has not disappointed and his babies are simply beautiful. From our early start with just 3 girls and our stud Tasman, we've grown to 17 girls (by the end of '16) and have also acquired Truman, Gilly, Gabriel and Remy for our stud line-up. Our committment to health and uncompromising selective standards within the breed are just some of the things that we hold very dear.
We've had dogs our entire lives which was mostly focused on Border Collies as pets until the Cavaliers appeared and it’s been love ever since! The Border Collies and Cavaliers complement each other very well in the same household. The Borders love to be on the move and play Frisbee all day long and they keep the Cavaliers in great shape running around in their fenced 5 acres….which is solely for the enjoyment of the dogs.
Our small farm includes the Cavaliers and their friends the border collies as well as some cows and chickens. We enjoy the freedom of working from home which affords the dogs all the attention and time daily that they require.
We also live on a beautiful lake in Central New York (and wine country!). Skaneateles is one of the Finger Lakes and our home and farm has miles and miles of wonderful views of the lake. The dogs are privileged to see deer and all kinds of wildlife on a daily basis running outside of their fenced area.
We also believe in giving the dogs everything that they need to succeed. Success with dogs is not only training, care and love it also includes a very high quality food. We feed the dogs only human grade holistic food which is Fromm Gold dry food for adults and Fromm Gold for our puppies. The dogs are played with outside several times per day to keep their mental state just as sharp as their physical state.
All of our puppies are hand raised with extra love and care in our home and as long as our 'Mom's' are healthy and strong, they are making healthy happy babies. The puppies are also very well socialized prior to going to their new homes and we feel that nutrition and socialization are key components in a successful long term relationship with their new family.
